Hey everyone,

I just installed TweetDeck yesterday and I have to say it greatly improves the usability of Twitter.

You can divide your followers into groups and follow each group in separate panes which makes it MUCH easier to keep on top of things. You can also set up Direct Messages and Replies in separate panes - which makes it much easier to stay on top of these too.

I also love the fact that I don't have to set up my search criteria every time I log on! It just picks up the last search I was doing and sends through the stuff I'm searching for.

I do recommend it if you're a regular user of Twitter. It's free and you can get it here:

Cheers,

Martin.

Jim, hi,

TwitterFeed works like a charm. The only thing I don't like about it is having it use OpenID to access it! I find that a real pain.

I used to use StumbleUpon but, as I mentioned in the Generating Traffic group, the quality of the traffic is not good. Lots of it, yes, but they all bounce.

Twitter is generating much better quality traffic for me. I've been maintaining the activity I wrote about in one of my first comments in this group, but refining the search by simply specifying the additional search criteria of '?'.

Adding the '?' filters the search results to those where people are asking questions - and, since I'm looking for questions I can answer, that enables me to focus in much more accurately on what I'm looking for.

Just doing that has enabled me to answer many more questions and generate many more followers and traffic as a result.

Cheers,

Martin.

Hey Martin - How has TwitterFeed been working for you? Have you ever looked into Stumbleupon as well?

I just received my weekly Newsletter from the Pro Marketers Group on LinkedIn. In this weeks distribution, there is an offering for a Free eBook on "How To Use Twitter For Business: A Beginners guide". Many of us are not beginners but there may be some good stuff in here.

I have downloaded this but not yet started reading it. Here is the link for anyone else wanting to have a look. It is in PDF format (1.3MB)

It adds quick viewers to your site. I have made several connections already and have only used the service for 3 weeks

And, related to that, I've been saying for a while that my current employer should use Twitter as part of their Customer Service strategy.

Picking up on a complaint through following tweets on your company name, using the search feature of Twitter, can often be easily and quickly fixed.

This not only prevents a customer contact with the call centre but it enhances the company's reputation for responsiveness.

Cheers,

Martin.

I have noticed that one of my favorite Web Magazines uses Twitter religiously to stay in touch with their fans. The magazine is Smashing Magazine. They posted a Tweet today that said:

"One important principle of a good Twitter user: spend at least 5 minutes of your time with your followers. Every day."

The more followers, the more valuable that 5 minutes. Just my thought for the day.
