Eric, hi,

Delighted it's working for you. It's building momentum nicely for me.

Cheers,

Martin.

Martin mentioned this idea to me a couple of weeks ago. Since I started using this suggestion, more people follow me. The best result has been more high-quality visits to the blog.

Great idea Martin!

Sorry - that url I put below didn't come out clickable. Here's a clickable version:

I just wrote a blog article which expands on the information I gave below and includes links to the various places I refer to. You can find it here:

I use the search function in Twitter to type in keywords related to subjects that I can answer questions on, or that are relevant to my business. For example, I often do searches for 'Wordpress'

That filters the stream of tweets to show only those containing the word Wordpress. When I see a tweet that's asking a question I can answer, I do so.

That's been bringing me some traffic and also building up my followers.

I also use TwitterFeed to post all my blog articles automatically via RSS.

Overall I'm getting a steadily growing number of followers (without using any of the automated programs to follow people by the thousand) and a steadily growing stream of traffic.

I usually let the search feed run in the background and check it every now and then. It always tells you how many new results there are since your last refresh. So when there are 15 - 20 new results I just hop over and check them out.

There's a lot of spamming and tweets like 'read my new post', but there are also some serious questions and these are the ones I go for.

Brian Clark (who writes CopyBlogger and was the co-developer of the Thesis Wordpress Theme) actually gets sales by doing this. He just types in Thesis and answers questions on Thesis when they come up.

Cheers,

Martin.

I am new to the e-commerce world and I haven't used Twitter but I have been offered the use of it . I am not ready to use this source but will in the near future after looking at Karen Gerling and Ginny Williams comments/social sites. I did further research and found a site that offers 63 responses to this subject " Is Twitter More Important than List Building"
